I stayed up way too late reading this novel, wanting to know what would happen next! As a huge fan of WWII & historical fiction, this one gives you the sense of Scottish life from the 20's-40's through the eyes of the characters and what's impacting their lives. It's not rich with tons of facts & figures, yet, quite endearing nonetheless, because it gets into the spoken language, the class system (& biases of the time), likewise how things change for women & men -- all quite naturally in a cleverly woven story.Product details
